Modern diesel engines need to generate fuel pressures of over 2000 bar to operate efficiently. The presence of air in the fuel system will affect the proper operation of the engine. During fuel system maintenance and installation of a new fuel filter, air will enter the system. Most modern systems have an automatic bleed or a hand pump permanently fitted to the vehicle, however, on many systems it takes some time to bleed all the air out of the system. Modern diesel engines use two main methods of fuel supply: Pressure feeding: using an electric pump installed in the tank to deliver the fuel to the high-pressure pump. Vacuum supply: using a suction motor pump to generate the vacuum that will drive the fuel to the high pressure pump. The tools in this kit are designed to be connected to diesel fuel systems, using OEM type fittings.
